Esbjerg is located on the west coast, specifically in Region Southern Denmark, and is the 5th largest city with approximately 71,000 inhabitants (2009). Esbjerg had in the past Denmark’s largest fishing port, but today most of the fishery has been replaced by offshore operations. Esbjerg is also a commercial and cultural center and offers great scenery and great swimming year round. Summertime entices the beautiful sandy beaches for tourists and winter vacationers can visit the city (indoor) water park with waterslide, whirlpool, wave pool etc.

Esbjerg’s most popular attractions include Water Tower from 1897 – where one of the top has great views, Boktrykmuseet, Esbjerg Art Museum (with modern Danish art from 1920 to the present day), Esbjerg Museum with its oldtidsutstilling and Fisheries and Søfartsmuseet. In addition, the Catholic Church of St. Nicholas from 1969 an attraction – with its distinctive architecture.

Esbjerg Airport is located 10 km east of downtown, and features both scheduled and charter traffic.
