Horsholm short guide

Horsholm is a city of approximately 33,000 inhabitants (2009), located in the Capital Region of Sealand – 25 km north of Copenhagen.

The main attraction of the municipality is the former royal summer residence Hirschholm Slot from the 1730s, which admittedly was demolished in 1810, but Slot Haven around still bear the old Baroque garden. Today is the whitewashed neoclassical Hørsholm Church from 1823 there. Nearby attractions Hørsholm Municipality is Hørsholm Egns Museum with archaeological and historical collections from the city and region, Cultural Drum – which hosts concerts and theater performances – as well as hunting and Skovbrugsmuseet.

In Rungsted – 2 km east of Hørsholm center – is the train station with regular trains to Copenhagen and Elsinore. In this area is also a great beach and marina, as well as the popular Karen Blixen Museum.

Hørsholm center has pedestrian street with shops and stores, and in the vicinity are scenic woodlands, parks and golf courses.

Nearest airport is Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup.
