    Dénia is a city in the province of Alicante, Spain, halfway between Alicante and Valencia. As of 2014, it had a population of 41,672.

    This quiet town is located on the Costa Blanca and is a perfect resort for families. There are 20km of beaches along the coastline, ranging from sandy stretches to small rocky coves. Denia is dominated by the hill-top castle, part of which dates back from the Roman times. The castle houses the Museum of Archaeology and both the castle and Museum are open to the public and easily accessible.

    Other historical attractions in the town include a 17th century church on the main avenue, the Plaza de la Constitucion and the City Hall, which still has in its façade two memorial tablets from the ancient Temple of Diana. There any several other churches, monuments and parks to explore and many of the town’s plazas boast impressive sculptures.

    There is a bustling fish market along the port area which comes alive each day with the unloading and sorting of freshly caught fish. The area around Denia is filled with orange and lemon groves and the Montgó Nature Reserve can be accessed by the road to Jávea, passing through San Antonio Cape with its lighthouse at the top of the cliff.

    You can visit the Balearic Islands by boat from Denia’s port. Alicante Airport is about 85km south of Denia.
