Surfers Paradise (18,500 inhabitants in 2006) is located on Australia’s east coast, the Pacific – and is a suburb of the city of Gold Coast (“Gold Coast”) located in the state of Queensland.
Surfers Paradise is one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations, and is primarily known for having one of the best sandy beaches in the world. Surfers Paradise Beach is wide and long, and as the name implies, this is a paradise for surfers – and both the rental of surfboards and surf course takes place on the beach.
The suburb is also known for its many skyscrapers, which is lined up along the beach. Surfers Paradise has a modern city life with cafés, restaurants, markets, numerous pubs, bars and discos – as well as theaters and concert venues. The main street in the center called Cavill Avenue, and here one has good shopping both in shops and large shopping centers.
Other attractions of Surfers Paradise is Gold Coast Art Gallery – an art gallery with both changing and permanent exhibitions, as well as a great outdoor sculpture park. One can also visit Q1 Observation Deck, located in the Q1 tower on the beach. The observation deck is located at 77 and 78 floor, 230 meters above the ground – and from here one has 360 degree panoramic view. There is also a bar and a cinema adjacent to the observation deck.
The nearest airport is Gold Coast Airport, located 20 km south of Surfers Paradise.
